Hoeksteen Amsterdam
Innovative housing concept to retain families in the city.
Located by the water within the ring of Amsterdam, Provast is developing a new mixed-use building aimed at retaining families in the city of Amsterdam.
The Hoeksteen project originates from the winning tender for Plot 1 in the Muyskenkwartier. Hoeksteen adds a residential layer to this multifunctional area, with a nod to the expressive Amsterdam School. The Muyskenkwartier has a direct connection to De Pijp and the Amstelkwartier and, with the planned new construction and the scaling down of the A2, will become a fully-fledged new residential area.
The building comprises 21,000 m² GFA above ground, including over 210 homes in the social, mid-rental, and free sector purchase segments. The ground floor will house amenities, and beneath the building, there will be a parking garage of approximately 4,000 m².

A new wooden grid structure allows for a flexible layout of the floor plan with an endless diversity of housing typologies. The collective inner garden is formed around three mature trees that provide shelter, cooling, and a green experience from day one. A powerful gesture in the dense city.
Thanks to the wooden column construction and biobased materials, the CO₂ footprint is minimal. The flexibility of the column construction makes the building future-proof, as it can adapt to changing housing needs and functions.
